V&A Acquisitions

As the inaugural Contemporary Middle East Curator at the V&A, Salma Tuqan helped shape the strategy for displays, partnerships, and collecting of contemporary Arab art and design at the museum, embedding Middle Eastern content within the museum’s permanent collection, as well as its on and off site exhibition and displays, events, and public programmes.

As part of this, she established a collection strategy and fundraised to build up a strong body of multi-disciplinary works by leading Arab artists and designers within the museum’s permanent collection, and  worked alongside colleagues to ensure that works acquired were integrated in the museum’s upcoming exhibitions and permanent galleries.
